Country

Chile

Chile is the longest country in the world, a sliver of land between the Andes and the Pacific. It's a land of extremes: the driest desert on Earth (Atacama) in the north, the vineyards of the central valley, and the glaciers and fjords of Patagonia in the south. It's safe, modern, and breathtakingly beautiful.

Food & Wine

Wine: Carmenere is the signature grape. Visit wineries in Maipo or Colchagua Valley. Seafood: Conger eel soup (Caldillo de Congrio) and Centolla (King Crab). Pisco Sour: The national drink (don't tell Peru).

Transport

Domestic flights (LATAM, Sky, JetSmart) are essential due to distances. Buses are excellent (semi-cama/salon cama). Renting a car is great for the Lake District or Carretera Austral.
