Costa Rica

Costa Rica is the poster child for eco-tourism. Its motto 'Pura Vida' (Pure Life) sums it up perfectly. It's a small country with huge biodiversity—rainforests, cloud forests, active volcanoes, and beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. It abolished its army in 1948 and invested in education and nature instead.
