Rule #1: Avoid Airport Exchange Offices

Rates at the airport are always 10-20% worse than in the city, plus there are often hidden fees. This is the price for convenience and expensive rent.

Best Alternative — ATM

Withdraw a small amount in local currency from an ATM in the arrival hall. Your bank's conversion rate will likely be better than the exchange office. Choose ATMs from major banks, not Euronet (they have high fees).

If Exchange is Unavoidable

Exchange only the minimum needed for transport to the city and food. Exchange the rest in the city center.
