SeatGuru Secret

Before choosing a seat, always check the cabin map on SeatGuru or similar services. Enter flight number and date. You will see the plane layout with marked 'good' (green) and 'bad' (red) seats.

'Bad' seats may not recline, lack a window (though it should be there), or be too close to toilets.

Check-in Strategy

If seat selection is paid, wait for online check-in to open (usually 24-48 hours before). Immediately after opening, free seats are often available, which the system assigns automatically, but can be changed.

Some airlines deliberately separate passengers from one booking to force payment. If flying together and don't want to pay, try asking to be seated together at the check-in counter at the airport — sometimes agents oblige for free.

Best Economy Seats

Exit Row seats give more legroom, but you can't store bags under the seat, and children are not seated there.

The front part of the cabin is usually quieter and you exit faster after landing. The tail is considered safer statistically, and there is a higher chance of flying without a neighbor if the flight is not full.
