Warn the Hotel
If you arrive after midnight, be sure to write to the hotel or hostel. Many reception desks have working hours (e.g., until 23:00). If you don't warn them, your booking may be cancelled as a 'No Show'.
Find out if there is a door code or a night porter.
Transport at Night
Public transport may not run at night. Find out the schedule of night buses in advance or download a local taxi app (Uber, Bolt, Grab, Yandex).
In some countries, airport taxis charge double at night. Ordering via an app is often safer and cheaper.
Backup Plan
If the arrival is very late (3-4 AM), sometimes it is easier and cheaper to book a capsule hotel right at the airport or wait for the morning in a lounge/cafe than to pay for a full day in a city hotel for a couple of hours of sleep.
