Denmark

Denmark is the land of 'Hygge' (coziness), design, and bicycles. It's a flat country of islands and peninsulas, with a high quality of life. Copenhagen is a cool, green capital with canals and world-class dining (Noma). From the cliffs of Møns Klint to the beaches of Skagen, it's understated and beautiful.

Transport

Bicycles are king in cities – rent one! Trains (DSB) are efficient and connect the country. Bridges connect islands (Great Belt, Oresund to Sweden). Public transport is excellent.

Food

Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches on rye bread). Danish pastries (Wienerbrød). New Nordic Cuisine. Hot dogs (pølse) from street stands. Licorice (salty!) is a local obsession.
